Charitable Work
“The Middletown Police Foundation will provide resources and grants by cooperating with community leaders and businesses to benefit our community as a whole. Program examples may include providing child identification material to elementary school age children for parents to record pertinent data for their child to be used during an emergency, such as physical descriptions and bio-identification information. This information can be used to aid law enforcement and emergency services to rapidly identify missing children and assist in their safe and speedy return. Additional programs may also include providing bicycle safety helmets to children of under-served and economically challenged communities. These children will be identified by close partnerships with elementary schools, structured housing facilities and churches in our community.”
The Middletown Police Foundation may also invest in crime prevention services for our senior community members by providing literature, information and seminars regarding financial scams. These educational resources help prevent crime and strengthen relationships with our senior community and the police department.
The Middletown Police Foundation will assist by providing resources and support to the officers of the Middletown Police Department by including training to its officers on topics such as: de-escalation, response to persons in mental crisis and education regarding emerging groups of people and how they interact with law enforcement. These objectives can be accomplished by bringing in subject matter experts and by providing small group training.
The Middletown Police Foundation may provide financial assistance to the Middletown Police Department to research crime prevention and response technology such as License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras in high crime areas and evidence-based crime data.
